Lincoln International Academy is located in Managua, Nicaragua. It is a private, Catholic school that was founded in 1991. It is one of the few schools in Nicaragua that offer bilingual education (Spanish-English). LIA received pre-candidacy status by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools in February 2004. LIA is also a member of the National Catholic Educational Association, the Association of American Schools of Central America, and hosts the Masters in Education Program by Framingham State College. Founded in Managua in 1991 on a 12 acre campus, it was built in response to demands for a school with strong Christian values, high academic standards, and fair but strict disciplinary principles. The Nicaraguan Ministry of Education accredited Lincoln International Academy in 1991. LIA's curriculum places a strong focus on college preparation, offering several AP classes. 28 credit units and 100 hours of Community Service are required in order to graduate. The school follows U.S. and Nicaraguan curriculum guidelines for Preschool, Elementary and Secondary education. School facilities include 8 pre-school classrooms, 15 primary classrooms, 15 secondary classrooms, 14 administrative offices, 1 Chapel, library, 2 technology centers, science laboratory, bookstore, assembly hall, cafeteria and athletic fields.
