
The Colegio Americano de Guayaquil is a private non-profit, non-sectarian, bilingual and bicultural organization founded on May 4, 1942, whose utmost interest is to fulfill the educational needs of its students.
The school's objective is to provide an education with the highest standards of quality, thus contributing to the improvement of the society. By placing the student in the center of the educational process, the Colegio Americano de Guayaquil recognizes its responsibility in developing their academic abilities by means of a holistic formation in sciences, arts, values and sports, as well as taking care of their emotional, physical and social needs.
The school's mission is to form bilingual, proactive, successful citizens on the personal, professional and social levels. The students will be capable of assuming their obligations responsibly and ethically with academic leadership and multi-cultural tolerance in a highly competitive world.
In 1986, the Colegio Americano became a member of the prestigious network of the International Baccalaureate (IB) and became an IB World School. It has fully occupied facilities for Preschool (Pre-K, Kinder and First year of General Basic Education- GBE, which is equivalent to two years of preschool and Kindergarten in the US educational system), Primary School (from second to seventh year GBE or equivalent to first to sixth grades in the US educational system), and Secondary School (from eighth year of GBE to third year of high school – Sixth course, equivalent to seventh to twelfth grades in the US educational system).
The high school program offers four specializations in sciences: Physics and Math, Chemistry and Biology, Humanities and Communication, and Business. All of these are bilingual and prepare students for the International Baccalaureate exams.
