International Schools

Marian Baker School (MBS) is a private, international, college preparatory English-language school that offers curriculum from kinder through high school. The school offers a United States and Costa Rican based curriculum to prepare students for colleges and universities in the United States, Costa Rica, as well as other countries. Curriculums and courses are identical to those in a North American school. Textbooks are imported from the United states in addition to various Costa Rican Spanish texts. Instructions are given in English (with the exception of Spanish and Costa Rican Social Studies) but all students are required to learn Spanish. All MBS teachers are certified in their field of expertise and possess college degrees. In addition, more than half of the teachers hold a Master's Degree and participate in the selection of in-service topics to keep up-to-date with current developments in education. MBS is accredited by the Costa Rican Ministry of Education and by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS).
