The British School of Costa Rica is an independent, proprietary day school ofering academic levels from Early Years 1 (4-5 years) up to Year 13 (12th Grade). The School's mission is to provide an excellent, all-around, bilingual (English-Spanish) education where British and international methods and programmes are employed and integrated into the Costa Rican Ministry of Education curriculum. Dedicated to bringing quality education to the Costa Rican international community residents, the school employs a teaching staff of qualified and experienced British, Costa Rican and seven other different nationalities. It has a purpose-built school facilities on a 2.2 hectar site which include two libraries, six laboratories, an audio-visual center, a gymnasium and three computer laboratories.
The School is accredited by the Council of International Schools (CIS) and by the New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC). It is recognized by the Costa Rican Ministry of Education and a member of the International Baccalaureate Organization. The school is a Centre CR002 for the University of Cambridge IGCSE Examinations. It is also licensed by the Duke of Edinburgh's International Award Scheme. It is the Costa Rican Centre for "Philosophy for Children" and is a Charter Member of the International Primary Curriculum programme.
