The English School is a coeducational, non-denominational day school founded by Elizabeth Masson (an American school teacher in Bogota) and her husband Richard Masson on September 4, 1961. The school is amongst the largest and most successful IB schools in the IBLA region. It provides internationally certified and accredited projects based on English-Spanish bilingual education working towards both the local examinations and the International Baccalaureate. It seeks to be the best option for Primary and Secondary education in Colombia and among the best in Latin America, providing an education for all our students which is holistic, bilingual and multicultural, of the highest academic standing, and embraces both the Arts and Sciences and develops both entrepreneurial skills and social responsibility. The school is directed by an 11-member Board of Directors elected at a general meeting of its active members. It has a campus located on a large site in Northern Bogota. The Pre-School, Primary and Secondary sections are housed in separate buildings on the main campus. The school has three computer and four science laboratories, a cafeteria, two playgrounds, a sports field, a state-of-the-art gymnasium and sports centre, a large playing field, a new drama and arts complex, an auditorium suitable for small-scale productions and two small bilingual libraries.
