Founded in September 1997, Colegio Gran Bretaña is a private international school with the aim of offering children in Bogotá a high quality education in a challenging international environment for learning. It is the only school in Columbia with a truly international student and staff and the only school that teaches English as a first language. The programme of study is based on the National Curriculum of England and Wales, with instructions given in English with the addition of a global approach to social studies, the Colombian Sociales programme, and Spanish language tuition for all students. The school is a distinct choice for members of the English-speaking community in Bogotá, and for children of all nationalities who have, or desire to have, a working knowledge of the English language and curriculum.
The school offers Nursery to Year 13 (UK) curriculums in a small, tranquil and rural environment where the average class size is 15 students per teacher. It is the only school in Columbia with a double international accrediation: from the New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC) and the Council of International Schools (CIS).
