Fundación Educacional Santiago College (or simply Santiago College or SC) is a prestigious private educational (K-12) institution founded in 1880 as a boarding school for girls. Since then, it has long been a pioneering institution in its implementation of a modern, international curriculum. It was the first school in Chile to teach Physical Education to women. Founded by American Methodists missionaries Ira H. LaFetra and his wife, it has nonetheless offered an ecumenical approach to values and religious education. Since its founding years, the school maintained an excellent reputation for offering high-quality education and has always been at the forefront of educational development. Today, Santiago College is the only school in Chile, and one of the few around the world, authorized to give the three Programs of the International Baccalaureate Organization (IBO): the Primary Years Programme, Middle Years Programme and the Diploma Programme. Although the school teaches an international curriculum, the instructions are in accordance with the Chilean Ministry of Education. The school is a member of the International Baccalaureate Organization, and is accredited by numerous other international as well as national associations.
