Schools in Lane County have spanned back to the time Pioneers were still settling Oregon in the 1850s. Throughout Oregon,
South Eugene High School has been known for its academic physique and diverse student body. The building on 19th Street and
Paterson was built in 1953 as "Eugene High School." Four years later, after North Eugene High School was built, Eugene High
School changed it's name to South Eugene High School.
South Eugene is recognized by the U.S. Department of Education as a premier high school in the nation. The award-winning
staff and diverse student body take great pride in the sheer number of exceptional opportunities available at our
open-campus school. A strong and vibrant curriculum is augmented with a competitive athletic program and rich activity
offerings. Our curriculum includes college preparation, student-run businesses, health occupations, International
Baccalaureate (International High School) and French Immersion.
