Atlanta International School is a non-profit, coeducational day school offering international education to American and international students living in Atlanta and the surrounding areas. The primary school programme offered to four years old to grade 5 pupils is a dual language program where all students learn the English language and a second language (French, German and Spanish). The English-French language track is accredited by the French Ministry of Education.
The Secondary School programme is academically-centered, with the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma being the goal. Students also take US college entrance tests. The faculty is a multi-cultural organization per se, with teachers representing 30 different nationalities. Each teacher is fully qualified and experienced and shares the school philosophy of providing the best possible education for each student, one with intellectual rigor, human understanding and respect, high international standards and a global perspective. The student body is composed of American citizens and 70 different nationalities. About half of the non-American students are permanent US residents, with the balance being on fixed term assignments to Atlanta.
Atlanta International School is housed in an historic former public school in the north Atlanta suburb of Buckhead. The four buildings on the 14-acre campus have been fully renovated and offer a complete range of modern educational facilities. The School also offers the Kaleidoscope After School program for those families who need to pick up their children later in the day. Offered daily for children ages 4K through Grade 8, AIS also offer full-day and half-day camps when classes are not in session (most holidays, school half-days, etc.)
