Maple Leaf International School is a coeducational private school and accepts students from Junior Kindergarten (4 years of age) through to Grade 12 (university or college preparation). The School was established by a group of parents who wanted an alternative educational experience of the highest quality for their children in Trinidad. MLIS approaches education in a modern child-centred, individual manner with smaller class sizes and strong student-teacher interaction. This allows for students to take an active role in the learning process. The school is a non-profit corporation, governed by a board of directors.
Maple Leaf International School follows the guidelines established by the Ontario Ministry of Education and Training, offering advanced level courses leading to university and college entrance.
MLIS is located in Petit Valley in the northwest area of the island of Trinidad, near the capital city, Port of Spain. It is comprised of three sites which house over 500 children and over 50 staff. It is a safe and student-friendly environment with a family atmosphere. Secondary academic programs are inspected by the Ministry of Education of the Government of Ontario annually. Graduating students are awarded the Ontario Secondary School Diploma (O.S.S.D.), which is recognized internationally.
