Pearson College is a unique two year pre-university school and is one of twelve United World Colleges around the world. It is named after the late Canadian Prime Minister and Nobel Peace Price laureate, Lester Bowles Pearson. One of the aims of the college is to promote peace and international understanding by bringing young people from all walks of life, regardless of cultural background or financial ability together to study and to serve the community.
Pearson College is ideally located on the shores of Pedder Bay, which is approximately 29 km west of the city of Victoria, BC on the west coast of Canada. The school's main curriculum is the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme. With a strict scholarship policy, students are required to be sponsored by their home country's UWC committees, as well as several private donors and organizations. After graduation, the students are eligible to participate in the Shelby Davis Scholarship programme which funds undergraduate study for UWC students at exclusive universities in the United States.
