The Haut-Lac International Bilingual School educates students of more than 30 different nationalities and from many diverse cultures, side by side with local Swiss students. Within the framework of an academically rigorous, student-centred, bilingual programme, the school endeavours to create a stimulating environment for children aged 3 to 18 years. The primary curriculum is based on the guidelines of the British National Curriculum and the French primary programme, whilst the secondary curriculum incorporates the structures of the International Baccalaureate Middle Years Programme (MYP) and Diploma Programme (DP).
Haut-Lac School is unique in the region. Situated on the northern shore of Lake Geneva, with breathtaking views to the mountains and the vineyards, it is located in one of the most economically thriving areas of Switzerland. It offers a child-centred bilingual education leading to the International Baccalaureate programme at the secondary level which is recognised by Swiss universities and at higher education establishments around the world. The school is well-adapted to serve the needs of the multinational companies that have their headquarters here and the expatriate families (the parents of more than half of the students work for international enterprises) that have come to spend a part of their lives in Vevey or the surrounding area.
The school was recently able to move its secondary students to the imposing premises of Les Roches Grises at St Légier-La Chiesaz. The construction of an additional building on the site with specialist rooms and laboratories for the teaching of art, technology, music and science will allow the school to accommodate up to 250 students for the five years of the International Baccalaureate Middle Years Programme and the two subsequent years devoted to the preparation for the International Baccalaureate Diploma examinations.
