The Collège du Léman is a co-educational boarding and day school located in Versoix, nine km from the centre of Geneva. Founded in 1959 and under the same administration today, it is a university-preparatory school listed on the Professional Register of Swiss Private Schools. The school is accredited by ECIS and by the New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC). The curriculum is designed to make it possible for students to develop their intellectual, extra-curricular and athletic capabilities within the international environment of the school. The instructional programme from kindergarten to the highest classes prepares for four national examinations: College Board tests, for students intending to enter US colleges and universities; IGCSE and GCE 'A' level examinations for those seeking European or other world locations; the French Baccalauréat and the Swiss Federal Maturité (including the bilingual English-French Federal Maturité) for French-speaking students seeking entrance to universities in Europe. The faculty is made up of teachers with degrees and certification mainly from the United States, France, Great Britain and Switzerland: over 50% of its members have been with the school for ten years or more. The 20-acre campus includes a new building complex in which can be found new science laboratories, the latest IT facilities, music rooms, a fitness centre, a library and research centre and a theatre. Sports facilities are comprehensive. Seven boarding houses provide accommodation for 200 boys and girls, grouped by age. During long holidays at Christmas and at Easter boarders may go home or may join the ski or other trips organized by the school. During the winter term, there is opportunity for each grade level to go skiing for a full week. Students participate each year in the Students United Nations held in Geneva and the Model United Nations in The Hague, Holland. Two school plays are produced in each year.
