Welcome
to our website and thank you for your interest in Xabia International
College. I hope that it will give you an insight into our busy
and varied life here in Jávea situated on the Costa Blanca.
XIC
was founded in 1994 to provide a quality education based on the English
National Curriculum within an international environment. The
school comprises Primary and Secondary sections ranging from Nursery at
3 years of age, through to GCSE at 16 and to 'A' Level at 18+.
The natural progression in a family's education can therefore
take place with the least possible disruption.
The current roll
of approximately 320 students is made up of children of some twenty
nationalities. We offer them a diverse education here at XIC.
The college is fully authorised to admit students of all
nationalities and to convalidate their studies in line with the Spanish
Education System. Teaching Spanish language and culture is
an important part of the curriculum between the ages of 5 and 16 as
well as to 'A' Level. We are also committed to maintaining XIC's
highly effective low pupil/teacher ratio.
Uniform is being
phased into the college over a period of a few years. All
students from Foundation to Year 10 in Secondary are required to wear
uniform. From September 2009 Year 11 will also wear uniform.
One
of our aims is to encourage students to have a positive involvement in
College life, whether through formal work or otherwise. We value
such contributions highly and recognise them by awarding monthly Merit
Certificates in Primary and book tokens in Secondary at the end of each
term.
We strongly believe in working closely with parents in the
best interests of all our students and we are pleased to have a new
Parents and Teachers association known as 'The Friends of XIC'.
We are a straightforward and purposeful community with one aim: to ensure our students are happy and do well.
