Xabia International College, an international school in Javea, was founded in 1994 to provide a quality education based on the English National Curriculum within an international environment. The College comprises primary and secondary schools ranging from nursery at 3 years of age, through to GCSE at 16 and to 'A' level at 18+. The natural progression in a family's education can therefore take place with the least possible disruption.
The school has recently begun a new stage in its development thanks to a change in ownership. David Gardner Brown bought the college in July 2005. Since then land has been acquired and plans approved to build a new school in Moraira. Primary will remain on its present site in Portichol, Jávea. Uniform has been introduced in Primary from September 2006 and, after review, will be introduced for Years 7-9 in September 2007.
The current role of almost 300 students is made up of children of some twenty nationalities. XIC offers the students a diverse education. The college is fully authorised to admit students of all nationalities and to convalidate their studies in line with the Spanish Education System. Teaching the Spanish language and culture is an important part of the curriculum between the ages of 5 to 16 as well as at 'A' Level.
XIC strongly believe in working closely with parents in the best interests of all the students and the school is very pleased to have a new Parents and Teachers association known as 'The Friends of X.I.C.'
