
The British School of Alicante was founded in 2001 by a parents' cooperative, although it is now part of King's Group. The school campus is located about five minutes from the city center of Alicante and occupying a specially designed, and recently extended building overlooking the Mediterranean Sea.
The UK staff have British teaching qualifications, and there are native Spanish teachers to teach Spanish language, History and Geography, as well as Valencian. The school follow the English National Curriculum. Students in in Year 10 (14 years old) start a two year course of preparation for Cambridge International GCSEs. In Year 12 the BSA offers a range of GCE A Level courses which prepare students for university entrance in both the UK and Spain.
Class sizes are an average of 25. The student body is composed of a Spanish majority along with British citizens and other nationalities.
The school facilities include modern classrooms, library, Music room, Science laboratories, Art room, ICT suite, 2 gymnasiums and sports pitches as well as several play areas.
The academic year starts in the second week of September, and finishes in mid-late June. The school day starts with registration at 9.00 am, the first class is at 9.10 am, and lessons finish at 4.25 pm. There is a wide choice of after school activities which run from 4.30 pm - 5.30 pm.
