
The International School of Belgrade (ISB) is an independent, coeducational day school which offers an educational program from pre-school (ages 3-4) through grade 12 for students of all nationalities. The school year comprises 2 semesters extending from August 28 through January 23 and from January 24 through June 15.
The School is governed by a 7-member School Board, 3 members of whom are appointed by the U.S. Ambassador. Two Americans and two non-Americans are elected by the Association of the International School of Belgrade, the sponsor of the School. Membership in the Association is automatically conferred on the parents or guardians of children enrolled in the School. The School is incorporated and has received U.S. tax-exempt status.
The curriculum is similar to that of U.S. general academic, high-quality public schools. ISB is authorized to offer the International Baccalaureate Middle Years Program for grades 6-10, the Diploma Program for grades 11 and 12 and is currently implementing the Primary Years Program for pre-school - grade 5. ISB is a college preparatory school offering a rich curriculum designed to stimulate the minds of children of all ages. The lower school, middle school, and high school campuses, all within close proximity of one another and consisting of remodeled villas with adjacent buildings, are located in a residential area of Belgrade. The high school campus has a bubble gymnasium. All campuses are rented. The School also has access to a nearby swimming pool and gymnasium. Each campus has a library with a total of over 13,500 volumes, and a computer lab. There is also a purpose-built science laboratory at both the middle and high schools. ISB offers a hot lunch five days per week plus limited bus transportation.
