The International School of Cluj and Happy Kids Kindergarten are not-for-profit educational institutions administered by the Happy Kids Foundation, which was established in 1996 to promote innovative approaches to improving education in Romania. Together the two schools aim to offer the highest standard of education, from pre-school to middle school.
ISC/HK offers a bilingual educational program in English and Romanian tailored to accommodate the wide range of students in the school today as well as prepare the children for the multicultural world that they will inherit. Each year, ISC/HK add an additional grade to accommodate the growing student population.
With sixteen different nationalities represented in the student body, ISC/HK's diverse community mirrors the multiculturalism found in the school's host city of Cluj-Napoca, a historic center of learning in Transylvania that is currently home to University of Babes-Bolyai (UBB), one of the largest universities in Eastern Europe. Eighty percent of the student body is native Romanian, while the other twenty percent is made up of students from around the world.
In the thirteen years since ISC and Happy Kids were founded, enrollment has grown from twelve to 245 students, with roughly 125 children attending Happy Kids preschool and kindergarten and 120 students in ISC's primary and middle schools. An additional after school program (from 4:00 to 7:00 P.M.) brings in up to more than 100 children from other schools. The school currently have thirty-four well trained staff members working to educate and care for the students, and is expected to keep growing in the years to come.
