The American International School of Krakow (AISK) opened its doors in 1993. It merge with the Kolegium Europejskie, a 7th-12th grade school in Krakow that has been authorized for the International Baccalaureate Diploma program (grades 10-12). Together, the schools offer a pre-K-12th grade education to both international and national students living in and around the city of Krakow and the region of Malopolska. The American International School of Krakow (AISK) is located in historic Krakow, the tourist capital of Poland. Facilities include classrooms, a computer lab, an 8,000-volume English library, an 8,000-volume Polish library, science lab, school offices and a gymnasium. Students travel to local facilities for after-school sports such as swimming and ice-skating depending on the season. The American International School of Krakow (AISK) is international and national. Specialist teachers are employed for art, physical education, music and languages other than English. Class sizes are small, which allows students individual attention and flexibility within programs. The curriculum at American International School of Krakow (AISK) follows an American/International approach with emphasis on Standards and Benchmarks, the International Primary Curriculum and the IB Diploma. English is the language of instruction for the International Stream of the school. Students in need who do not have English as their first language will receive assistance. A preSchool Program focuses on English language development and social and personal growth. The enrollment of American International School of Krakow (AISK) is primarily made up from the dependents of international businesses and foundation employees, and US Consulate employees and Polish nationals. At all times AISK respects the diversity of background of families, and recognizes the transient nature of the international community. American International School of Krakow (AISK) has a governing Board and several Foundations (Polish and US), which support its purposes and mission.
