The English International School of Padua was founded in 1987, in response to demands from the growing international community in Padova. One of its main objectives is to foster open-minded attitudes which will enable children to operate successfully within such an international community.
The school is an independent, co-educational day school which offers a curriculum based upon the English system of education. Instruction is in English. Students may also study Italian, German and French. Twenty-four teaching staff are from Britain and hold university degrees and teaching certificates. In addition, there are full-time Italian teachers who are responsible for implementing the Italian language.
The school year runs from early September until late June and consists of approximately 180 days. Each school day is from 08:45 until 16:00, Monday to Friday.
The school has recently moved to new purpose-built premises with 24 classrooms, in addition to which rooms are available for group work, art and craft, dance and drama. Facilities include a science lab, computer room, a gymnasium and three libraries. An on-site sports field is used for both organized sport and recreation.
Admission is dependent on interview and reports from previous schools.
