Core International School in Rome was founded in 1983 and is staffed by qualified, experienced British and Common- wealth teachers. The school began in a small way and as it has grown over the last twenty years it has been able to maintain the original familiar atmosphere where children of many nationalities, cultures and religious backgrounds, learn to live and work together in harmony. The school policy is to keep classes small, about 16 children in each class, so that each child receives individual attention and is encouraged to reach his or her full potential. All lessons are conducted in English and emphasis is placed on children acquiring a sound understanding of the three basic skills, whilst learning in a creative environment. Our Nursery Department, which caters for children from three to five years old, provides a gentle transition from home to school life. The Primary department is working within the guidelines of the British National curriculum. Strong emphasis is given to the acquisition of the basic skills, to lay foundations in all aspects of learning activities and to build up positive attitudes for the rest of school life. A rich course of geography, history, science, art, music and drama is included in the curriculum. All classrooms are equipped with a computer which children use to augment their studies. Optional after school activities include sports, music, arts and a course of geography, history and science is offered once a week to children who are preparing for the exam to enter into Italian school. The school also conduct summer fair and concert, school trips, Christmas show and Sports Day.
