
St. Lawrence College is an independent, coeducational British school in Greece. Its new campus is nestled in a 16-acre peaceful country setting well equipped with state-of-the-art facilities including science labs, libraries, an amphitheater with 400 seating capacity, computer laboratories, indoor tennis courts. These facilities compliment the high academic standards of the school provided to more than 800 students who hail from 56 different nationalities. St. Lawrence has in its payroll, a large staff of highly qualified and dedicated teachers who are mainly British- or Commonwealth-trained who have been with the school for quite some time now. An average sized Junior school class would contain approximately 18 pupils and in the Senior school the average is about 13 – 15 pupils. With high academic standards comes good academic results. The school has built up extensive experience in the teaching of English as a second language. There is an E.F.L. class at every level, including classes for pupils who have to learn the English language ab initio. Apart from English, there are also classes in Modern Greek, French, Russian, Arabic and Mandarin Chinese.
The academic year at St. Lawrence College begins from early September and ends mid-June, with two two-week holidays for Christmas and Easter. The school day starts at 8:40am until 3:15pm, Monday through Friday with eight 40-minute periods each day with mid-morning as well as lunch break. Drama, chess, computers, swimming, calligraphy, photography, newspaper, debating, environmental and 31 other extra-curricular activities are offered. Sports and games are well catered for, charity work and community service actively encouraged and there is a strong system of pastoral support. Full advantage is taken of Athens cultural amenities. A Summer School programme for boys and girls aged 4 to 15 is also available.
