Frankfurt International School is a private school in Oberursel, near Frankfurt am Main, Germany. It is situated at the last two (Waldlust and Hohemark) stops of the U3 underground line coming from Frankfurt. The main-campus is at Waldlust; the primary school is 200 meters up the Taunus hill at the Hohemark stop. The two campuses are split by the A661 autobahn and a nature reserve, but are connected by a trail and pedestrian bridge. The Frankfurt International School was founded in 1961. Since then it has been accredited by Council of International Schools and the New England Association of Schools and Colleges. Also it has been accredited as a International Baccalaureate World School. The school was the first school in Germany and the seventh worldwide to offer the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme. FIS consists of three divisions. It teaches classes from "first steps" up to 12th grade. The first-steps, pre-primary, primary, and first graders are taught at the primary campus, while the elementary and high school students are taught together at the main campus. The school also has a sub-campus in Wiesbaden. The main campus consists of approximately 1,200 students, while another 500 are taught in the International School of Wiesbaden (ISW). Many subjects are currently taught in the Frankfurt International School. While all classes (with the exception of Foreign Languages) are taught in English, students are encouraged to learn more languages. In Group 1 and Group 2 subjects of the IB diploma English, German, French, Korean, Japanese, Spanish and Dutch are offered (many of which are offered in different levels of achievement). Other languages (like Hebrew and Swedish) are usually taken by students outside of the school; nevertheless, the school does offer the examination for these in the end of the IB program. For Group 3 subjects the school offers Economics, Business, History, and Geography, and recently has opened a Psychology course because of its popularity in the Middle Years Programme of the school. For Group 4 subjects, the school offers Physics, Biology and Chemistry. For Group 5 subjects, the school offers Math at 3 different levels, and Computer Science. For Group 6 subjects the school offers Visual Arts, Music and Theatre.
