The Bavarian International School is a contemporary and dynamic school educating students that represents 40 different nationalities. The dedicated faculty challenges students to pursue an education that embraces the International Baccalaureate learner profile. The school is regarded for its inclusive, supportive and international approach to learning. BIS aspires to be a school from which students gain a sense of personal accomplishment, self-confidence, and a lifelong love of learning. The Schloss, which forms the impressive centrepiece of the BIS campus has a rich history stretching back to the late 1500s. The building features a number of architectural treasures, and has been the home of three significant Bavarian families over the years. The Bavarian International School purchased the property in 1997. After a year of re-modelling and the construction of additional purpose-built educational facilities, BIS opened for its first school year in Schloss Haimhausen in September 1998. Today the Schloss provides classroom space and a cafeteria for the Upper School (grades 9 - 12), and houses the offices of the Director, the Upper School Principal, the ICT Department and various other administrative offices. A number of purpose built modern buildings have also been added to the campus, to provide the range of facilities required for a high-quality Pre-Reception to Grade 12 international school.
