The International School of Nice was founded in 1976 and was taken over by the French Riviera Chamber of Commerce in 1994. It is a non-profit, co-educational, non-sectarian, day school providing Anglophone education for the international community and is an essential part of the educational infrastructure on the Cote d'Azur region. The student body is composed of the international community on the French Riviera representing more than 35 nationalities including British, American, French, Scandinavian, Italian, German, and Dutch students. The teaching staff is also composed mainly of British, American and French teachers.
The course of instruction at the International School of Nice follows models used by major international schools around the world. ISN is fully accredited by the European Council for International Schools and the Middle States Association of the United States. It is also recognized by the International Baccalaureate Organisation and offers IB courses to grades 11 & 12, while the IGCSE (International General Certificate of Secondary Education – University of Cambridge ) is offered for grades 9 & 10. The School also serves as a test centre for the PSAT, SAT I & SAT II, SSAT, Advanced Placement and ACT exams.
The school year runs from September to June and there are a large number of extra-curricula activities including sports tournaments with local schools, Model United Nations, Student Council and Field Trips in France and abroad. The school has a strong drama and music programme and regularly show plays, musical performances and musicals, attracting audiences from all over the region.
The purpose-built facility has been open since 1987 and is located 5 minutes from Nice International airport with easy access to the A8 motorway. Facilities include classrooms and laboratories, libraries, art rooms, a photography dark room, music room, a 300-seat capacity theatre, gymnasium, cafeteria an all-weather sports playing fields and recreation areas.
