
The Centre Internationale de Valbonne (CIV) is an international school located on the commune of Valbonne-Sophia-Antipolis in France. The school is managed directly by the Ministry for National Education composed of a college as well as a preparatory school. A boarding school which accomodates international students whose parents have jobs in the area is also located within the campus site. Instructions are given in French but the school also teaches in English, Spanish, German and Italian. Classes are given corresponding to the student's chosen career in college which are divided into three categories: economic and commercial classes, where the students are taught introductory trade and management-related courses; literary classes which prepares the students for entry at educational colleges, l'Ecole Nationale des Chartes, colleges of trade and management and institutes for political studies; and scientific classes which prepares the students who wish to study at engineering colleges or colleges for veterinary surgeons.
CIV has a large teaching staff of highly qualified and professional teachers. It has modern classroom buildings especially designed to meet the requirements of its students including a large amphitheater, speech/language rooms, computer laboratores, scientific laboratories and house various research facilities including that of CNRS, INRIA, the School of Mining, ESSI, CERICS, and CERAM.
