The International School of Paris (ISP) is a non-profit, independent and co-educational establishment and the only Anglophone school in the city of Paris that provides for children from Nursery (age 3) to Grade 12. It is an international community that actively promotes among the students a sense of mutual respect and understanding - an awareness of the increasing interdependence among the diverse peoples of the world.
The school was founded in 1964 with six students and two staff members in one classroom. Today, the school has facilities for 625 students and 85 staff members in four buildings in the sixteenth arrondissement. Grades 4 - 12 are just a short walk from the Eiffel Tower. Nursery - Grade 3 are near the Ranelagh gardens.
It is a fully accredited member of the Council of International Schools and the New England Association of Independent Schools (ISP was the fourth school worldwide to be jointly accredited by these organizations in 1981). It is also a member of the National Association of Independent Schools and the European Council of International Schools.
The school is an International Baccalaureate World School with fully authorized curricular programs at all levels. The International Baccalaureate Organization (IBO) Primary Years, Middle Years and Diploma Programs reflect the school's international character. The courses are structured both to foster the quick integration of the students into the new environment and to facilitate re-entry when they return to their national systems.
