The British School of Paris caters to English-speaking children of over 50 nationalities from ages 4-18. It is a non-profit Association in France and is managed by a Board of Governors under the patronage of His Excellency the British Ambassador. The school has a reputation for excellent teaching, good discipline and a wealth of sporting and musical possibilities. Small overall numbers, modest class sizes and a supportive pastoral care system, mean that new pupils integrate quickly and find themselves well-motivated in their work. The pupils participate in a wide range of extra-curricular activities, and they enjoy excellent results at all levels in standardised UK examinations. At the Senior School, students enter at the age of 11 and for the first three years, a broad general curriculum is maintained in line with the National Curriculum of England and Wales. Pupils are prepared for the GCSE, AS and A Level examinations in a comprehensive range of subjects. All those leaving Year 13 go on to university, most to the United Kingdom, including Oxford and Cambridge, some to North America, South Africa and Paris and others to their home country. The Junior School occupies a beautiful wooded site overlooking the Seine valley and has many modern facilities. The staff are all well-qualified and the classroom atmosphere is disciplined and focussed. The pupils follow a course of study in line with the National Curriculum. The accent is on literacy and numeracy, but a full range of subjects are on offer, including specialist teaching in French, music and sport. Integration is the school's first consideration, and the staff are experienced in helping their new charges settle in. At age 11, all children are entered for the Year Six SATs, as in the UK. Results are always excellent, and transfer into the Senior School is easy.
