The International Preschool of Estonia and the International School of Estonia form an independent, coeducational day school, which offers an educational program for students aged 3 to 18 of all nationalities. The School was founded in 1995. The school year comprises 2 semesters extending from August 23 to June 8.
The School is governed by a Board of Governors, the membership of which is formed as set forth in the Bylaws and Articles of Association of the School. The School is recognized and fully licensed by the Education Ministry of the Estonian government.
The School offers a comprehensive education program with an international curriculum. The School is fully authorized as an IB PYP, MYP and DP school. The language of instruction is English. In October 2006 the school will have its first accreditation visit by Council of International Schools/New England Association of Schools and Colleges.
The School rents a former vocational school in the central district of Tallinn. The building was built in the mid- 1800's originally was a summer stable for the Czar's cavalry. The facility is within walking distance of most points in the central area of the city. Specialist areas include a newly equipped science laboratory, a gymnasium with showers and changing rooms, an ESL room, a cafeteria, and a 16-station computer laboratory. The School also has a fenced playground, an outdoor basketball court and utilizes the Tallinn Sport Hall for upper school PE classes.
