Vienna International School is an institution offering an international curriculum through the medium of English to children of many nationalities with a wide variety of cultural and linguistic backgrounds. The community consists of the students, teachers and support staff, administration, parents and Board of Governors of VIS. The school was built to accommodate the children of UN employees and diplomats and it remains affiliated to the UN. Majority of the students are children of UN employees and receive education grants, while much of the remaining students are children of embassy staff and Austrian nationals.
