Danube International School (DIS) is a private international school in Vienna, Austria which began in 1990 as a response to quotas imposed by the other International Schools in Vienna which had restrictions on the number of Austrians that could attend their schools. Initially, the school mainly served the business community but currently has students from the whole spectrum of Austrian life including Embassies and the UN. DIS has an enrollment of approximately 300 students from pre-kindergarten to twelfth grade. The mission of Danube International School is to provide a quality education in English for children of all nationalities. DIS offers a continuous international education from Kindergarten and culminating in study for the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme in Grades 11 and 12. The school seeks to prepare students to become citizens of the world through its commitment to the development of the whole child, both as an individual and as a member of the community. DIS emphasizes the need for acceptance of personal responsibility, concern for others, service to the community and an understanding of people of differing culture, religion and social background. Cost: €13-16000 (primary-high school) 'Mother Tongue' programme not included. Students: 385 aged 3-18, 50% Austrian 50% International (23 other nationalities) Teachers: Very International (12 nationalities) Educational Standard: Primary - Own Curriculum.
