International School Bangkok (ISB), is an independent, coeducational, nonprofit day school, which was founded in 1951. ISB offers an educational program for children ages 4-18 (PK-grade12). The school year extends from approximately mid-August to early June and is divided into two semesters. A high quality summer program is also offered.
A 13-member Board of trustees is elected by parents of students enrolled in the School. The School encourages and benefits from active parent participation.
The curriculum is based on North American standards and International Best Practices. The International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma is offered in grades 11 and 12 along with Advanced Placement exams. Instruction is in English and uses a child-centered approach. Students have extensive learning opportunities in the fine and performing arts, athletics, technology, and community service programs. There are programs for students with mild learning disabilities. Approximately 98 percent of graduates attend universities. The School is fully accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges and chartered by the Thailand Ministry of Education.
In the 2006-2007 school year there are 229 faculty members. All teachers at ISB are certified and average 15 years of experience at ISB. Most teachers are U.S. certified, and approximately 85 percent hold advanced degrees.
The 35-acre campus is located in a family-oriented community 14 miles from the center of Bangkok. The School offers state-of-the-art facilities for academics, athletics, fine and performing arts, and other programs to support quality educational opportunity.
