Canadian International School, located in Tokyo is an accredited Canadian school, which embraces the philosophy of a Canadian education. The curriculum and connections from one grade and academic level to another are closely monitored providing the opportunity for students to develop academic skills and gradually expand knowledge and understanding of important topics. Modern teaching strategies, provision of student enrichment units of inquiry, recognition of various student learning styles, and a culture of academic support create a special learning community at Canadian International School. In addition to classrooms, CIS has technology labs, music and art area, science laboratory, resource centre, fully supervised indoor and outdoor activity and play areas, regular use of a large indoor swimming pool, gymnasium, and exercise centre. The two building school campus is five minutes walk from JR Osaki station. Students from Japan and many other foreign countries attend CIS. The classes are taught in English and focus on what our students are learning. Each homeroom teacher becomes an academic mentor and advisor for students as they challenge the academic program. Teachers have high academic expectations for CIS students and provide support for students so that they can achieve their best. Post secondary opportunities are plentiful for CIS grade 12 graduates. As graduates of our accredited Canadian secondary program they will be eligible for admittance to universities in Canada and other western countries. Successful CIS students will receive a Canadian graduation certificate which is recognized in all provinces of Canada. The highly academic high school program provided by CIS will also ensure that successful students will achieve post secondary entrance requirements for Canadian and other universities. CIS also receives recognition from the Ministry of Education in Japan. The graduates will be given the eligibility for writing the entrance exams for Japanese universities without taking any additional exams for academic equivalency.
