International Schools

The Netherlands International School (NIS) was established in 1967 and is one of the first international schools in Jakarta. The school's mission is to offer excellent education with an international dimension in a secure environment. In addition to the Dutch playgroups, the NIS offers the English preschool for children betwee the ages 1.5 and 4. The PYP-profile oriented programme contains elements from the UK curriculum such as Phonics, Math, and Science. An English Primary school for 1st and 2nd grades have also been opened. NIS is dedicated to the quality of teachinga as well as in a "feel at home school" environment, the latter being a key element in good learning results and the well-being of the child. Teachers work with small classes in which social behaviour, independence, self-confidence and creativity are encouraged. NIS is strategically located in Cilandak, a quiet residential area south of Jakarta. The spacious school compound is guarded in accordance with stringent security standards. The air conditioned classrooms are situated around a large sports field and connected by a covered hallway. The school also boasts an extensive library, a computer lab, a gymnasium, a sports field and two swimming pools.
