Semarang International School was founded by parents in 1982 who recognised a need for an educational institution that would enable easy transition upon repatriation. Since then, Semarang international School (SIS) has opened its doors to Indonesian nationals who want their children to be lifelong learners and learn in the medium of English.
Semarang international School (SIS) follows the International Baccalaureate Organization (IBO) Primary Years Programme, the only PYP school in Semarang. The school year runs from August to June and we welcome enrolments at any time throughout the year. Class times are from 8:00 am to 2:10 pm with extra curricular activities taking place until 3:30 daily.
The staff is composed of expatriate native English speaking teachers with minimun Bachelors of Education degrees and a minimum of 4 years teaching service. Each class has at least 1 qualified Indonesian teaching assistant. Ongoing PYP training provided in house and via IBO authorised workshops and conferences. There are 16 teaching staff in all.
Semarang international School (SIS) facilities include 2 large play areas with sand pit and playground equipment, large grassed area/field, broadband Internet and computers in every classroom, well stocked art room, multi purpose recreation hall/gymnasium, large bright air conditioned classrooms, 2 security posts, a library, and a large sports container with up to date equipment.
