The American International School - Chennai is a non-profit, coeducational day school, established in 1995 under the auspices of the US Ambassador to India and the US Consul General, Chennai. The school offers a comprehensive program from pre-school through grade 12, an American curriculum taught by local, international and US hired faculty.
The purpose-built facility sits on a 10-acre land with a central courtyard, an air conditioned gymnasium, a well-equipped library, swimming pool, pre-school playground, and lovely green gardens.
The American International School - Chennai offers yearbook, drama, athletics, music and art as exploratory courses in middle school. College Board Advanced Placement courses are offered in High School. Intensive English language programs are provided for non-native English speaking students and French and Spanish are taught as a foreign languages. Specialist teachers are available for art, music, physical education, computer technology and special needs.
The school is a member of the Near East South Asia Council of Overseas Schools (NESA), the Association for the Advancement of International Education (AAIE) and the European Council of International Schools and is pursuing full accreditation through MSA and ECIS.
