Renaissance College, Hong Kong (RCHK) is a newly opened "all-through" school at Ma On Shan, Hong Kong. It is run by ESF Educational Services (ESL), a company set up some years ago by the English Schools Foundation (ESF) and it offers the IB Primary Years Programme, the Middle Years Programme and the Diploma Programme to all students according to their year levels (currently, only the Diploma Programme is approved by the IBO). Many of the students and teachers came from Phoenix International School after it closed on July 7, 2006. Students come from different countries including those from the United Kingdom, the United States, India, Pakistan, Singapore, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Jamaica and a few African countries. But local Hong Kong students make up a majority of the population in the school. The school offers English, Putonghua, Humanities, Art, Music, Drama, PE, Science, Mathematics and Technology classes. For primary students, school starts at 8:40 am and ends at 2:40 pm. For secondary students, school starts at 8:40 am and ends at 3:20 pm. Students who participate in CAS (Creativity, Action and Service) after school may end their school day at 4:15 pm for primary students and 5:15 pm for secondary students. The school has iMacs and MacBooks, running Mac OS X Tiger, for students and teachers. Every secondary student in the College is required to bring a laptop computer to school everyday. They can also choose to borrow a laptop from the school IT center during the school day and can connect to the school's wireless internet connection anywhere within the College. Other facilities include a 25-m swimming pool, a Learning Information Resource Center which is basically a library occupying two floors with 20 iMac computers, a cafeteria, performing arts center, 2 gyms and 2 soccer pitches. Smart cards are issued to each student (except Year 1 & 2) for printing and photocopying, buying food and beverages, loaning laptops (secondary students only) and identification. The Smart card can be use to open locked doors and purchase items within the school.
