The Norwegian International School located in Hong Kong is a Christian, international, non-profit school established in 1984 to provide an education for the children of Norwegian Lutheran missionaries. During this period of the school’s history, Norwegian was the medium of instruction, with English lessons conducted by teachers of English.
Norwegian International School is committed to providing a nurturing, quality education with a Scandinavian touch in a Christian environment, enabling staff and students to cooperate in reaching their full potential as whole persons. The school uses International Primary Curriculum, now used in more than 90 schools in 38 countries. Based on the most explicit learning standards that cover subjects with an international focus of understanding, the IPC provides teachers and schools with more than 70 Units of Work around which to build a dynamic and exciting thematic curriculum for children aged 3-12.
The school is registered with the Education and Manpower Bureau of Hong Kong and managed by the NIS Board, which consists of 5 voting members. The school campus is conveniently situated within short walking distance from the Tai Po Market KCR Station and along a main road that is accessible by a good number of buses and mini-buses. Right next door is a public football pitch that acts as a sports field for P.E. lessons and After-School-Activities. Other public services such as the indoor sports hall and library are also readily accessible.
