In a rural environment Leafy's small homely school with qualified staff is an ideal setting for pre-primary Education. The school's main aim is to foster in the children a love of learning about their world around them. This includes their physical, social, emotional, intellectual and spiritual development.
Leafy provides a happy, stable, caring and stimulating environment, where children are given the opportunity to explore and discover their world of learning.
The school's programme is thematicaly based, allowing each child to experience a variety of interesting subjects and ideas. This encourages a wide range of development in language, maths, science, physical and mental application. Each child is given individual attention each day and therefore the child progresses at his or her own pace.
The school teach the children to respect each other as well as everyone else. It encourages the children to really enjoy all aspects of their learning. Staff devise many games and practical experiences so the children learn to ask questions and thus encourage their thinking abilities. We do no rote learning.
Leafy give the children the opportunity to learn about gaining new skills enabling them to feel confident in all that they attempt.
Each child goes through certain learning stages in developing new skills such as reading, writing, maths concepts. However, each child, as an individual, passes through these stages at different times and at their own pace. Our aim in our teaching and observations is to recognize these stages in each child, and to nurture each child's progress. In doing so, the foundations of educational values are set down which will help in later years.
Leafy has an environment and a curriculum and caring staff to help and encourage children between the age of 2-5 years to stimulate a positive attitude towards future educational goals.
