Dulwich College Beijing opened its doors to more than 500 students on August 2005, two years after its sister college, Dulwich College Shanghai was established. The Dulwich Colleges in China owes their existence to the great actor of Shakespeare and Marlow's day, Edward Alleyn. Alleyn created a school built on the ideals of academic excellence, commitment to the community and quality in all things. The school's educational philosophy places equal emphasis on a student's intellectual and personal development, encouraging them to participate in a wide array of activities both in and out of the classroom.
Dulwich College offers a curriculum based on the best practices of UK and international systems providing a broad and balanced education with the required specialization in later years. English is the medium of instruction throughout the school and the broad and balanced curriculum is divided according to individual needs starting from Pre-School to Key State 4. The school has different campuses catering to different levels. The main campus caters to Years 3 to 10, the Beijing Riviera campus hosts Nursery to Year 2 students, the Sanlitun campus offers a Montessori Programme to students aged 2 to 5 while the River Garden site offers the Montessori Programme to 1 to 6 years olds.
