Beijing Zhongguancun International School (BZIS) is an independent private school founded in 2002 to serve the Zhongguancun Science & Technology Zone, which is called the “Silicon Valley” of China. The school was originally set up as the first international school in China that would serve the educational needs of returning overseas Chinese but has since expanded to serve the children of expatriates in China. BZIS offers curriculum from Elementary (Pre-Kindergarten to Grade 5) to High School (Grades 9-12). The California curricula model is used with modifications to generalize. The schools mission centers around teaching students to their fullest extent in accordance with their aptitude and potential to prepare them as an international talent in the 21st Century. The school campus is located in a 5-hectare property in Chaoyang District with the building comprising 24,000 square meters divided into two functional areas all designed and equipped with the most advanced information management systems, multimedia classrooms, electronic library systems and high-speed network systems.
