
Beijing BISS International School is an independent proprietary, co-educationa, English-language day school that offers international curriculum for Kindergarten to Grade 12 students from the expatriate community of Beijing, China. It was founded in 1994 by its sister school, the International School Singapore (ISS). The campus is nestled on a 11,000 square meter property with close proximity to central Beijing and the Asian Games Village.
BISS is the first International School licensed by The Beijing Educational Commission. It is a member of the Council of International Schools (CIS) and is accredited by Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC) and the National Centre for Curriculum and Textbook Development (NCCT), Ministry of Education, China. The International Baccalaureate Organization (IBO) has granted BISS authorisation to run the IB Primary Years Programme (PYP), IB Middle Years Programme (MYP), and the IB Diploma Programme (DP). The school's main building contains more than thirty classrooms, a library with over 25,000 volumes, music studios, science and 3 computer laboratories, resource rooms, Design and Technology suite, art rooms and administration offices. Academic year consists of two semesters, the first semester being in August up to mid-December while second semester runs from January to June.
