
Xiamen International School (XIS) is a private, international school for foreigners living in Xiamen, China. Only children holding foreign passports may enroll. The school was established in August 1997 and is located in the southern coast of China in Fujian Province. XIS was the first international school to be established in Fujian Province by the Ministry of Education and authorized to accept expatriate students. While walking down the halls of XIS, you would hear a multitude of languages, including Chinese, Korean, English, French, Spanish, Italian, Swedish, German, and the list goes on. XIS has a yearly International Day, where everyone has a chance to express their own culture by bringing in their culture's food.
This school offers PreKindergarten to grade 12, with an American-based curriculum and has over 250 students from over 25 countries. XIS is accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC) and is authorized to offer the IB Primary Years Programme for students ages 3 to 12 and the IB Middle Years Programme for students ages 11 to 16 years.
The school's facilities which opened in 2002 is a 30,000 square meter campus with a library, gum, soccer field, running track, three basketball courts, an indoor swimming pool, science labs and a large cafeteria.
