
The American International School/Dhaka (AIS/D) is an independent, coeducational day school which offers a college preparatory educational program from Pre-kindergarten through Grade 12 for students of all nationalities. The school's mission centers around the committment to the development of the whole person. It offers a holistic, academically challenging, English language education, designed to develop individuals who are both independent learners and international citizens.
AIS/D's academic program is reflective of a quality college preparatory, U.S. independent or suburban public school. Classes are self-contained through Grade 5. Instruction is in English. French and Spanish are taught as foreign languages starting in Middle School. The School is accredited by the New England Association of Schools and Colleges and the Council of International Schools and is authorized by the International Baccalaureate Organization (IBO) to offer the IB Diploma.
The School occupies a 4 1/2-acre campus in a residential suburb of Dhaka, Bangladesh. Founded in 1972, the AIS/D is governed by a nine-member School Board elected for 2-year terms comprising of parents or legal guardians of students, with a non-voting representative appointed by the U.S. Ambassador.
