The International School of Uganda (ISU) is a nonprofit, coeducational day school, established in 1963 which offers an international education program for students 3 to 19 years old. The School is governed by a Board of Management, comprised of eight elected and one member appointed by the U.S. Ambassador. Membership in the Association is automatically conferred on parents and guardians of ISU students and on all full-time ISU teachers. The curriculum is based on the International Baccalaureate Programs; Diploma (16-19 year old students), Middle Years (11-16 year-old students) and Primary Years (3-11 year old students). The students are well prepared at ISU for entry into American, British or other international schools or universities. More than 1,500 schools worldwide use the IB Programs which offer transportability for students of international families. The high school program prepares students for successful entry into universities and colleges around the world. All students work towards an ISU High School Diploma over the four years of high school. In the last two years, all students follow the International Baccalaureate Diploma curriculum. These students may choose to prepare for the prestigious International Baccalaureate Diploma. The International School of Uganda is accredited by The Council of International Schools (CIS), and the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools (MSA) and authorized by the International Baccalaureate Organization (IBO) to offer the IB Diploma Program and the IB Middle Years Program. ISU is a Primary Years Program (PYP) candidate. The School occupies a newly built campus on a 33-acre site on the outskirts of Kampala. There are 42 spacious classrooms, 4 science labs, 2 computer labs, 2 music rooms, an art room, and an 16,000 volume library. Facilities for sports include 2 swimming pools, a sports hall, 3 playing fields, 4 tennis courts and a running track.
