Le Bocage International School (LBIS) was established in 1990 and is a private, co-educational, English medium school situated on the green slopes of Mount Ory in Mauritius. Over the years, the school has grown rapidly in response to the needs of the local and a foreign population, which covers about 25 nationalities. The school's mission is centered towards "providing in English, a high quality international secondary education that challenges students to realise their full potential in a caring and supportive environment." LBIS currently has thirty-eight classrooms including three experimental science laboratories, three computer rooms, two art studios, a home economics laboratory, a library and administrative offices. Outside the school buildings, there is a large playing field for conducting sports programs including 3 hard court general surfaces, two small grass-playing fields and a multi-purpose auditorium for indoor sports, drama activities, assemblies and for special community events, which occur throughout the year. The curriculum at LBIS is international and embodies the philosophy of the school. Students in the middle school (Forms 1, 2 and 3) study a wide variety of academic and practical subjects. There is also Life-Skills programme while IGCSE is offered to all students in Forms 4 and 5 while students in Forms 6 and 7 study the IB Diploma programme. Extra-curricular activities are a compulsory and important part of the overall educational programme. LBIS offers limited special educational needs provision. Entrance to the school is by examination, consideration of past school reports and, if necessary, an interview. A prospectus is available upon request.
