International Schools

The American School of Yaounde (ASOY) in Yaoundé, Cameroon is an independent coeducational school founded in 1964 which offers an educational program from Nursery through Grade 12 for students of all nationalities. The curriculum is that of traditional US public schools with the use of modern facilities including computers and the latest teaching techniques in all subject areas. Instruction is given in English with French being taught in all levels. ESL support is offered through Grade 10 to students who are not fluent in English. The international teaching staff are fully certified and registered with their respective country’s educational department, and most of the teachers are U.S. trained and certified. ASOY is accredited by teh Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools and the European Council of International Schools. It is governed by an eight-member Board of Directors elected for two-year terms by the parents with one representative appointed by the Ambassador.
